The "kitty crack" as we call "wet food" is a house favorite. Lily, she's an only kitty. She used to eat any and every kind of treat presented to her, and any flavor of food (any flavor of Blue Buffalo Wilderness). Now, through many hours of clicker training and having had plenty of opportunities to grow a taste for "the crack" we use when training... doesn't like hard treats. She used to eat Temptations like they were liquid catnip... now, no more.

How do I trick her into thinking hard treats are the new, cool thing? She won't even look at them any more.

Wet food is better for her anyhow.

What about these or some sort of equivalent?

You know, I know there are many people that lament just the opposite, that their cat will now only eat dry food, or will only eat such and such types. I think in general cats just get pickier when they get older. And yours will probably continue to get pickier and pickier is my prediction. Like Wildlife said, you are fortunate that Lily decided that the wet food is best. Had she fixated on those awful treats to the detriment of her other food, well, that would have really been a problem.

I thought the OP meant a tasty hard dry treat to continue clicker training with.
Wet food for training sessions could be a bit messy in the pocket and on the hands.

When we switched foods to a higher quality, we had one in our fur family who wasn't so excepting of the new stuff no matter how slowly we mixed old with new. Our fur family is also clicker trained. In a last ditch effort to get him onto healthier food we used his eagerness for clicker training. If he looked at, sniffed, tasted the new food...he got a click. It took two meals before he accepted the new food without hesitation. The next morning we clicked to reinforce the moment he went for his food and we have never had to click again.

At first I was thinking, "she gives her kitty crack?" LOL. There are some times Raiden ignores his treats too. He'll go several days without wanting any and then suddenly he will come up and beg for some. He gets fed wet food -- I simply prefer it to the dry due the moisture content and he doesn't drink a lot of water. He also has dry food available at all times.

I would not know where to begin to clicker train Raiden and at 7 years old, if he would even learn. He understands verbal commands -- although he doesn't always mind them. Good luck in your continued training!
