My little boy is my world but I worry I can't look after him like he needs. He's constantly biting and scratching me, he never seems to be relaxed. He's always running around like a lunatic, and seems to constantly be on the defensive and he's very territorial. I've tried everything, including Feliway, to make him relax and be happier but nothing seems to work. He seems to just be naturally aggressive.
Unfortunately my partner now wants a dog, I don't really have much of a say in it. He wants a pug and the one he has found is 8 months old, so still a puppy. My kitty is just over a year old. Will they be able to get on without any violence or will it just be a complete disaster? I've tried explaining the dangers that could potentially happen but my partner just isn't listening. On the other hand it could be good for my cat to have a friend to play with...but I'm so worried.
I've read pugs are very good with cats, but my cat doesn't seem to be very good with anyone.
I'd love any help and suggestions anyone can give.

If your kitty is aggressive with you, then he will be aggressive with the puppy. Bengals are very active by nature. They love interaction with people. Are you giving him enough play time? Do you have cat trees and other high places he can get to? You pretty much have to satisfy a bengal's needs or they do become aggressive. Bengals can get along with dogs, but I'm suggesting you curb the overly aggressive behavior before you bring a puppy into the mix or you may have bigger problems. You need to re=direct your bengal's behavior with toys and plenty of play time. I'm guessing he's an indoor cat. Train him to walk on a harness and leash and take him for walks, which will truly stimulate him and give him exercise. I think that's what he's lacking. My boy has never scratched or bitten me -- of course I got him when he was 6 years old. He craves attention and belly rubs. He loves jumping up on his cat trees and I take him for walks every day. He also has an outdoor enclosure that he an access 24/7. All of this makes for a much happier cat. I look at my Raiden as a perpetual two-year-old child. Just know your bengal is not crazy. He's a bengal and he wants the attention! Your baby has just gotten past the kitten stage. You may not know what F generation he is, bur the further you get from the Asian Leopard cat, the more domestic the cat should be.

Problem with pugs and cats is the bulging bug eyes of the pug can get easily scratched by the cat.

I've tried to get him to walk with a harness but even after days of him wearing it (on and off ofc) he refuses to go outside. He's terrified of the outdoors, he runs away if a door is opened near him and I have no idea why. He was never hurt or neglected as a kitten he's always had love and attention but for some strange reason he's scared of an open door! Any tips on getting him used to it?
I have read about a pugs eyes being sensitive and that's one of my main worries. I really don't want to have to give my baby away just because my partner has control over these situations.

Cats that have always been inside are always scared of the outside at first, pick him up at the door and reassure him when he is outside, he will soon lose his fear.

He's not a big fan of being picked up either...I tried and tried when he was a kitten but every time he just bit me and struggled to get away. I'm not sure what it is I've done wrong but it seems he's really not a happy kitty unless he's eating. The only time he genuinely affectionate is just after he has been to the vets, then a day or so later he's back to his usual ways.
I'll definitely try harder with getting him outside though, maybe it's all he needs.

Make sure you're engaging him in play with cat toys. That can be a bonding time. My Raiden doesn't like to be picked up either. Some cats simply will not venture outdoors. You may try to carry him out there. It sounds like he needs the confidence to be outdoors. Of course, if he hears heavy traffic or neighbors, that could frighten him. But once most cats get a sense of the outdoors, they truly love being out there. A lot of cats are not overly affectionate (mine is one of them). You need to give cats their space when they do not want to be bothered and you need patience when dealing with a cat with behavioral problems. Good luck!

I am no expert, but I trained Winchester to only go outside or inside using a cat carrier. I first had to coax him in with a treat. Maybe try getting him into a carrier and taking him outside? Do you take him to the vet in a carrier?
