Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I last came here since everything has been fine for my cuty and I in the past months. Now something weird's happening.

Sometimes my cat come at me, all puffed up with her back arched and jumping back and forth next to me. At first I was surprised because I heard it's something they do when they feel threatened. But I was just doing the dishes. So I played along and moved back and forth too. Since then she often does this to me. For a while I've been running after her, then her after me, touching her head when I caught her and her touching my feet when she got me. When either of us gets tired, she just come and lay next to me, washing herself.

Could it be like playing to her, despite everything I've read? Because she's not trying to scratch nor to bite, and she never made weird sounds. I'm just wondering because if it really scares her I will ignore her and stop. Our relationship did not change, however.

If I get the chance I'll make a video of the thing.

It sounds to me that she is just being silly and playing, especially now that you have made it a "game" for her. My cats do it to each other all the time, especially BB. She will run up to Jasper and puff up, next comes the crazy crab walk, and then they dash off like mad cats. They never fight while doing it or make any noises other than it sounding like a herd of horses running through the house. The only thing I can see that MIGHT become a problem, is if she gets to worked up and lunges at you. If you ever see that look in her eye (most people know what I am talking about) I would end the game and let her calm down a bit. Otherwise have fun

It sounds perfectly normal to me. My Raiden will puff himself up when he spots another cat outside in our yard. His skinny little tail gets so full and round and there is no way I can fit his harness around him when he's like that. Glad to hear your little one isn't into scratching and biting. I think it's a play thing and he's fine.

Well I'm relieved, that's good to hear! She's one year-old and her ears are not backwards.

In my limited experience, definitely sounds like she's trying to goad you into some playtime. My two do this exact same thing to each other when they're gearing up for some play-fighting. They still have their thin little kitten tails though, so when they puff them out they look like squirrels!
