Ok brilliant! Thank you all so much for your advice... I am feeling much more confident that we can make this work and both babies will be happy in the end!
I'm following the points religiously now... I've just fed them either side of the safe room door.
As a vocal little minx the only thing I can't stop happening is my chatty little boy mewing at the door and we do hear the odd hiss from her but I hope hearing each other is a start and then maybe in a few days or weeks, when they show the signs for it I can maybe open the door while they are eating...
We did have a wonderful improvement last night in the fact we kept Percy in our bedroom and she had a good old sniff and investigate of the rest of the house.

Hi all,
I just wanted to update you and thank you for your advise.
We have seen our little Millie come on leaps and bounds this last week with us and her surroundings.
Purring and lying flat on her back to let us pet her and even pick her up (when she is in the mood for it!)
We have been feeding them for the past two days in the same room, about five foot apart with me sat in between them to stop Percy getting to close.
The hissing and growling when she sees him is getting less and less and they even played (not with each other but with da bird! Today they were allowed in together again and they had a good sniff and then she hissed and hit him with her paw so we separated them again.
They seem to sit opposite sides of a door when apart but when we let then see each other she is still hissy and scared.
Am I being naive as to think this is HUGE progress and hopefully soon she won't hiss when they see each other?
I'm conscious not to over do it, as he just wants to play which I think she is still a bit wary of, hence the hissing and slight growling!
Are there any further tips for positive encouragement to get her to be happier to see him or shall I just continue as I am. Keeping them apart with very short periods of time together?

I delighted to let you know my beautiful babies are the best of friends!!!!! To the extent that they seem remarkably uninterested in myself and my OH. I think my boyfriend is secretly feeling a little bit neglected by Percy as they used to play together!but after all of your kind advice I am so pleased they are now always together, playing, chasing, cuddling all the time. Percy still comes into our bed when it's bedtime but Millie prefers the quiet of what used to be her safe room. She is still not to fussed on being picked up and cuddled but I am happy that maybe that will come with time, or maybe she is just not like her brother. As long as they are happy together I can deal with that!! Thank you again xxxx

Its common for humans to feel kinda snubbed (lol) when they add a new cat and the old one (both) show less interest in the humans... nothing is more fun than playing with another cat .. we cant compete with it
