as we all know, we come this this sight for advise and helpful information on our cute Bengals.... I have noticed on a few posts when people are in real need of asking for help or the person asking for help sounds like he or she is doing something wrong in the eyes of the responder. The responder is rather rude and chastises the person asking for help. We did not come to this sight to be yelled at or told we are bad Bengal owners we are simply asking for help.. So please people be careful and dont be so quick to judge us who need the help.

The majority of people here are very helpful. Not everyone is going to agree with how another raises their kitties. Most of us offer an opinion and that's all it is ... an opinion. Everyone here has a different one and that's what the forum is for -- to voice those opinions. I'm sure I may have missed a reply that could have been interpreted as being rude -- but I always try to respect the members of this forum and not judge them. Just as parents all raise their children differently, so do pet owners.

I think it is very difficult to assume intent on people's posts. You cannot see emotion that goes behind the words at all...

There also is a cultural difference in that advice from UK people us often very direct and to the point, with little airy fairy comments and pleasantries.... It's the way we respond when we want the important bit to be understood and not lost. I've noticed over the years that USA people tend to worry that they'll offend and less direct in their responses. It's down to this there have been many misunderstandings on here, and elsewhere, as USA people sometimes assume that the UK people are being rude.

If a poster is asking for health related advice and I have some to give, I will try and get my point across as directly as possibly so that the main points are not lost. This is very important if the cat is poorly and I don't mean anything rude by being direct, I just have the cats best interests in mind.


By the way, I have nothing against all the lively people from the USA. I just know we think differently. My brother has lived there for 15 years and has a family so I spend a lot of time over in Texas.

There are many reasons why people ask for help in forums such as this and many differing attitudes to the help that is given too.

Not all really want help, some are just wanting support and allies to back up their own ideas, no matter how strange they may be, and some want to "tell" the forum the best way of dealing with cats too, under the guise of "seeking help". So when the forum is not too keen on the "help seeker's" ideas and attitudes towards their cat(s), it can all go pearshaped.
What also needs remembered that this is not a forum that discusses trivia, it is a forum about cat's lives, so pussy-footing around the OP's "feelings" could cost the cat its life or at best prolong its unhappiness.

It is often not the Doctor with the best bedside manner that is the most knowledgeable actually. Perceived "rudeness" may be mistaken for not caring or being ill informed, or being "judgemental", but often it may be just a sign of a realistic or fact based individual who is just being direct.

This forum has been here for years, some members are long standing. They are people who have a huge amount of experience in Bengals and have given of their time again and again to help posters. I am sure they don't really appreciate being told off and "advised" by a member who has 9 posts to their name...
