We have Da'Bird, and a nice mouse toy... those are his faves, but he gets bored with them. So I bough a few others, some bugs on strings, more mice, etc. He's still getting bored with them. We try to do at least one big play session before bed, so we can sleep all night with out interuptions, but when he gets bored and doesn't want to chase them to get his treat, it's frustrating.

What are your kitty toy faves??? What do your cats like the best?

Raiden gets very bored with his toys. His favorite thing is the other end of Da Bird. He's so not interested most of the time in Da Bird itself. He wants you to drag the other end of the wand on the ground so he can chase it. I did get a TNR buddy for him and he loves to wrestle with it. Thankfully, it's well made and can put up with all the biting and thumping. Laser pointer -- Raiden realizes really fast he isn't going to catch it and walks away. I've taken him on two walks today to try to wear him out a bit. Luckily, he sleeps through the night, although he will wake me up once, but he'll either come back to bed or go out in his enclosure and watch the moon and stars.

Our two kittens have similar favourites - Da Bird, kicker, bouncy balls etc. One loves Turboscratcher, the other just watches. They both like the expandable tunnel - if we throw toy mice etc into it.

I have definitely found they get bored with anything left out for several days. So we put one or two away in the cupboard for a week or so then swap them over. It's as if they have never seen that toy before. WOW! NEW TOY!!!!!

The only exception is Da Bird which seems pretty irrestistable most of the time.

So rather than get too many new things, maybe you could try putting some away for a bit then swapping them over. Much cheaper :)

I have a stock pile of toys and have to constantly rotate them. My two go nuts over anything "hiding" from them, if it's in a box, their tunnel, under the sofa. It doesn't matter as long as they see it go there they are on it. I think it's just as important to change up the routine. Getting different objects involved with da bird sessions makes a difference. Add a chair for him to jump on while chasing da bird, get a cat tunnel so he can practice stalking the toy through the tunnel. If all else fails rub fresh organic cat nip on a kicker my two will tear into it. Another thing we recently bought, by accident is the sparkly attachment for da bird pole. We ordered the three refills of the super bird(which btw is a lot better than the regular) and they sent us the combo refills. Knowing my two I thought they wouldn't give it a second glance, boy was I wrong!!! They will go to the fridge and cry for it. The only place we can safely put it is on top of our refrigerator being they open cabinets and drawers!! Cosmic bananas are great too!

So I bought a few of the other attachments for Da Bird and he LOVES the fur one and the sparkly one! He wasn't big on the big fluffy feather one. Haven't tried the super feather refill yet, need to get that one. :) I will say, for non-interactive toys, he is in LOVE with anything with real rabbit fur, and he loves loves loves balls, esp. the ones with jingle bells. I see him carrying them around in his mouth like a dog would. :) Now hopefully we can keep rotating the new ones and he won't get bored with them.. wish us luck. ;)

Our 2 - Sheba and Loki - love anything that hides under half a metre of hessian - they pounce and skid across the floor then do the back leg kicky thing! We've also got a great photo of them both playing in the box that their expensive new cat tree came in !

I discovered a new toy that is now the craze for all three of my cats. I noticed a few weeks back that this big fly came into the house, and the cats chased that thing with wild enthusiasm. They finally ended up "playing it to death" and I had to take it from them before one of them swallowed it. But it got me thinking...

So I was in a local pet store and they had a "da bird" compatible attachment that mimic-ed an insect with wings (like maybe 1/4 the size of the small dabird feathers). Oh boy, that has gone over well. Now they have been begging to play with that every day for the past week and it has them jumping and doing flips while chasing it.

Aside from all the above, I stumbled into ping pong balls as a great toy. My nephews had air guns with similar, ultra light weight plastic balls which (obviously) would get lost all over the house. The kitty found one and the light weight + berber carpet lets it zip across the carpet with barely a touch. My nephews now think my cat needs to try out for the World Cup. He will also pick it up with his mouth and move it when it gets stuck somewhere. But the first night was about 30 minutes of uninterrupted 60mph zooming around the house chasing them. And they sell 6 packs in pretty colors too :3
