My male bengal destroys his toys as soon as i buy them. I saw him chewing on this new toy (plush with feathers on a wand), then saw that half the plush part of the toy was missing/possibly eaten. He also didn't eat any of his food. This morning he left me the biggest hair ball. I am really hoping he eats today and this is the end of the hair balls for now. I am wondering if it is common for bengals to eat their toys???? I might rethink what toys I buy him now! the toy is unrecognizable now and was new yesterday. ;)

Watch his food and water intake as well as if he is using his litter box. Speaking from experience, I can tell you an intestinal blockage can be difficult to ascertain yet very serious. Other signs to looks for - lethargy, excessive drooling (a sign of nausea), vomiting, struggling to use the litter box with no success.

That being said, do a thorough search of the house - did he hide it somewhere? Poop part of it out? Vomit part of it somewhere hidden (ex. Under a bed)?

If you are concerned, an xray will probably be the first course of action with the vet. They will be able to see on object or an enlarged part of the intestine. There are several non-surgical things they can try as well to help him vomit it or pass it on his own. If there is any string or edges, that can tear or puncture the intestine very easily, which is life threatening.

If you're really concerned, the vet can take an X-ray and you will find out for sure. I saw a thing on the news the other day about a dog who had 8 golf balls in his stomach. I hope he has not eaten his toy -- and that he's okay.

I have a bengal that loves eating socks and foreign objects. She's done it a few times now and the symptoms are always the same. Vomitting and infrequent litter box usage. If you notice any of those signs your vet needs to be notified because you may need to have the item surgically removed from your cat's stomach or it will cause a blockage. Take it from me... it's best to call the vet at the very least because it doesn't cost you anything to consult. They can recommend special diets and things you wouldn't think of yourself.

Thanks for the replies! Very helpful. I have never had a cat eat toys! I'm pretty sure he ate part of it. I did find part of it hidden under the bed but he also pooped part of it out. Thank goodness I didn't have to wait too long for that and take him to the vet. That was going to be my next step. He is great now though! playing like a maniac and eating normally. I will make sure he doesn't have access to his toys without supervision. What a nut! ;) He is such a sweet heart but such a stinker.

One last thing I wanted to add: In the event your cat eats fabric and you can't get ahold of your vet, a diet of 4 parts rice and 1 part chicken was prescribed to my bengal. It's called a bulking diet and is supposed to help pass material like that through the cat's system. I would however call your vet first before doing anything, but it's good to know that's out there.
