Hi All,

Has anyone ever heard of a cat who meows at their person and leads them to the litterbox, and then uses it while I stand guard? The litter is in the hall, so I think he prefere me to stand and block traffic while he goes!! :-) He has 3 total litters and one is in our bedroom, but he rarely uses that one.

My roommate thinks that I am my cat's "slave" due to this. I don't dispute his point, but I prefer to think of myself as a momma cat to him. Thoughts??

Lol sounds like we live in similar environments. I often find my roommate saying funny things related to Link and I's mannerisms

No, never seen anything like that. He may be objecting to the location of the litterbox (too "out in the open"). You might experiment in moving one of the other litterboxes that he doesn't use to see if there is another location he would like better.

Ha ha, yes! Benji requires an audience and I sometimes have to go out into the garden with him if he wants a pee.

I suspect that he has been ambushed by another cat, and feels safer if I am there, but it is a bit of a pain if it is late and cold!

He does have a litter box indoors but is VERY resistant to using it.

Does your litter box have a hood on it? When mine were very little they would shout for my attention. Once the hood went on the shouting stopped - unless the other cat tried to go in the same litter box at the same time

Hey Gang, thank you for the advice and stories! I will experiment with both litter box placement and hoods. He did have a hooded box at one point. Actually, his favorite box in the hall had a cardboard box around it with "Frakis' Fecal Fort" scribbled on the side since there once was a cat named Frakis that used it long ago. Lol, I shall build another. It is amusing to hear some of you experience the same behavior. Doubt they like an audience, but perhaps just like to have a trusted companion near.

Clive does it to me but; only in the morning. During the day he uses Indiya's company to pee together lol

Hunter always has to do his business when I'm cleaning the litter boxes. I don't dare walk away either because he will stop and leave the box! So I am his captive audience. :lol:

Of course I always praise him for making deposits! Nice Job, good boy! :bow:

Forgot to say - our morning routine is Clive waking me up screaming asking to accompany him to the toilet. I have to go actually otherwise expect trouble.
So we go together, I wait for him to pee , give him breakfast and back to bed.
He would also rush me if I get distracted by something on the way . Lol
