I have noticed what I think are some odd litter box behavior and curious if anybody else have cats do either thing. First one is when I try to clean the litter box he jumps in and just sits there making it difficult to scoop anything out. The other thing is when he is playing sometimes he goes in the litter box to hide out or waits to pounce you if you walk by not realizing he's in there. I don't know -- I am trying to discourage both of these habits so hopefully he grows out of them. He has a covered litterbox and that is why I think he hides in it -- he seems a bit modest for a cat because he will wait to use the box until the lid is on.

I've only had my three kittens a week but they also seem to treat the litter tray as a toy and toileting as a social event. As soon as I go to scoop anything out, they all appear and climb in and as soon as one goes to use the tray, the others follow. Fortunately it doesn't seem to put any of them off and they're quite happy for me to carry on clearing litter while they're sitting in the middle.

Also, why is it, if you put fresh litter in there, they HAVE to go in it, whether they previously needed to go or not

Just done that 5 mins ago and one lies in it then Jake kicks her out and he just has to use it lol
