Prozac curing spraying problem

I have 2 ten year old Bengals. They are brothers from the same litter. One is spotted and one marbled. They are neutered and no front claws. They are indoor cats. We live in a large high floor split level condo (plenty of room). 1 year ago the spotted one started urinating at specific places such as the entrances of bedroom doors and bathroom floors. A few months later the marbled one followed. The marbled one was doing it on our computer system, screen and keyboard and on our CD and DVD collections. This has been a real mess. After months of using non-ammonia cleaners, Feliway (absolutely useless and expensive), giving them 2 brand new cat boxes, using cat repellent sprays (bad smell and useless as well) and getting them both check by a vet, who found no health problem, we decided to either get rid of them or start Prozac. Within 2 days of receiving the medicine, they stop peeing everywhere. But, it became impossible to give them the half pill each. It did work for a week but they would hide, not swallow the pill and spit it out. I persisted and I got badly bitten. Because they had stopped urinating, I stopped administrating the Prozac. After 3 days one of them started again. It is very difficult to chase them around to give them the medicine. I need help and new ideas or I will have to give them away. The condo flooring is getting destroyed. Any suggestions ???

Giving a cat a pill is pure torture! You think they swallowed it and then you find it on the floor. It's bad enough when it's a temporary illness and they need the pills to help get rid of it, but to medicate daily, continuously has to be difficult. I feel very fortunate that Raiden doesn't spray at all inside the house. He sprays all the time outside on our walks as he's sniffing where the neighborhood cats have been. I understand your frustration over this -- and I guess if medication helps, then that's the way to go, although I probably wouldn't do it myself. There's usually a reason behind it -- and I think I'd spend the money on a cat behaviorist before I'd spend the money on medication. As you found out, when you stop the medication, the spraying returns.
