New Kitten Acting Funny - Advice!

Hello everyone! I have had my bengal cat for 5 days now and I am seeking a little bit of advice from you veterans out there. The first two days he was at my home he was eating fine (hard food), drinking water, playing, using the litter box, and cuddling. On the third day, he peed the bed and since then he hasn't act right. He hardly eats any food and if he does, it's soft food...he barely drinks any water, he refuses to play, and all he wants to do all day is cuddle me and sleep. This is really worrying me. Is this normal? P.S. His breath is TERRIBLE ( I'm assuming the lack of food and water is making his breath smell worse).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. And if you have any questions, ask away.

I would take him to the vets asap to get him fully checked over. Good luck and hope he is ok

It's something that doesn't get talked about much, but cats can get sick from changing the source of the water they drink. Some seem able to adjust to sources of water right away, and others get intestinal issues for a while.

Not saying definitively that is the issue here, but something to think about.

I second the vet advice - it's worth investigating. There could be non-medical causes, but it's worth ruling anything serious out early. Give us an update when you can.

Maybe a bad tooth? I would have the vet check into it.

Get him to the vet TODAY - kittens that aren't eating can go down hill VERY quickly as they have very little in terms of reserves of body fat/energy.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your kitty! As others have mentioned, it's very important that you take your kitty to the vet ASAP. Cats, especially kittens, must eat. If mine goes 24 hours without eating, he's at the vet as within 48 hours, the liver starts to break down the fat in the body which can be fatal.

Make sure the vet tests for everything. Moving a cat to a new home is quite stressful on many kitties and it's normal for a kitten to maybe not eat, but you say he was eating when you first got him, so something is up. Don't chance it -- you could lose him. Most breeders have you take your kitty to vet within 3 days for a wellness exam and to start a medical history on the kitty. As for the bad breath -- it's probably due to the lack of drinking water which rinses the mouth.

Thank you for the responses everyone. I will be taking him to the vet today. I got him to eat some raw chicken and I'm had to force feed him some pedialite, but he still hasn't eaten enough or drank any water on his own. His slobber is getting bad and still smells HORRIFIC.

Obviously, there is a medical condition going on. Hopefully, by now, you know what it is and the kitten is being treated for it. I'd also make sure the breeder knows what the outcome is.
