I checked out the flat cat's one, but as you say, don't think they would hold if they were to be climbed by an 13lb Bengal trying to get a bee or fly outside of the window. will have a look at the other one tomorrow and see what they have.

I'm going to repost what i have put before. This is our solution for the widow dilemma. I'm going to have to get a current photo of Obi's exploits to test the strength of this and reach the curtain rails. The photo with this is taken from a phone and of Indy....

We just bought some garden fencing from the local DIY superstore. It's the sort that comes in unbendable squares.

We cut it to size with wire cutters and used a couple of screws to secure it just inside the plastic window frame. It is in two parts and the top part is smaller and not fixed but just held onto the bottom part with cable ties.

The window will shut on it's catch but to shut it fully we would have to remove the whole thing. But then our living room is upstairs so no one can get in and we like to let a bit of air in anyway.

Just screwed in, no drilling. Maybe we used those self tapping type screws - they did have a sharp pointy end and needed a Philips screwdriver.

What about mosquito netting too. I forget you live North of Hadrians wall
