Denali and her dog slaves

Well, seems I've hit a homerun getting creative with a couple of furry fabric remnants... I sewed a pillow to fit inside/on top of the pet crate I bought to use for longer car rides. Mikesch was very interested in the strips of fabric that were left after cutting it to size, so I took those and instead of throwing them away simply sewed them into little furry sausages of various lengths and sizes. To make them even more interesting, I took a mix of catnip and dried leaves from the yard and stuffed it all in using little twigs from the yard, leaving some of the twigs inside the sausage rolls as well (some on purpose and others just simply because they broke during stuffing ) and then sewed them tightly shut on both ends.

Mikesch loves them! He's been carrying them all over the place, chewing happily and burying the soggy remnants under the covers in my bed. So far they've been holding up much better than I thought. Must be good quality fabric.

Ok I have just invented the ULTIMATE cat toy.

This is how bored I am over the Christmas holidays, waiting and eating and watching rubbish on TV and eating rubbish and waiting (for Obi mostly) etc.

I may have spent far too long on cat forums and not enough energy as I keep waking up and having strange ideas!

Ok so we know bengals love Da Bird. And we know they like staws. With the aid of 2 cable ties and after many hours watching Blue Peter as a child..................wait for it........................................

Now I just need a cat to try it on.

I have used many useless objects tied to a lonely Da bird pole; the most successful being a large bunch of curling ribbon

Da Straw Man is brilliant. Might have to try that. Also "Da Mouse" is a good one. A little mouse at the end of the string tied by his tail.

I was thinking of replicating something I saw on the TV. Was on Sky News, might even be on their website still. It was a version of the "Catch a rat" kind of scenarion. You get a medium sized box, cut 3 holes (or more depending on the size of box) in the top and one in the side or bottom and get a furry mouse or rat and stick it up one of the holes for the kitten to grab, then pull it down, then up another hole etc. etc.

Love Da Straw Man! I took some pictures, but still have to get the roll full to get it developed. I know, I know, even my mom tells me I need a digital camera... Well, nobody gave me one for Christmas though.
