hi, we have an older female persian shes 9 years old. we just got jazper a bengal when he was 9 weeks old. hes so much fun!! we now want to bring in another bengal kitten and iam wondering would male or female work best in this mix??
jazper is 5 months now and we think he would love another to play with as our persian female loves him as long as he doesnt put his paws on her, but he loves to,lol so shes not much fun for him. my persian loves to watch him and he has certainly made her more playful....but she doesnt want to get frisky with him!!!
so with her being a bit prissy what would all you bengal experts suggest for the new kitten, male or female. our breeder has a litter comming that we get first pick so it will be awhile.

i had a colourpoint persian Ambrose (RIP), he was a big beautiful bundle of fluff, unfortunately he passed away last April, at 10.5yrs. don't they have a way of looking at you, as if you are beneath them. this was definately his domain.

i know what you mean about getting your bengal a playmate, i'm considering doing the same for Austen. we'll see.

i personally think boys are good together if there neutered, but how will your persian feel bless her, she's had your sole attention for nine years and now she'll have to share you with not one but two boisterious youngsters.

i saw your other post, plaese don't give up on the forum yet, i've not been a member very long but found it very helpful and the people very friendly.

hi, thanks so much for youre help. i appriciate it. yes my persian, her name is Baby. we had another one a year older and he passed two years ago. it took two years to be able to bring in another it was really as if my best friend was gone!! really hard. so Jazz is wonderful hes a bengal and 7 months old now. so much fun and adorable if i get the picture posting down i will do that!! so we have the 9 year old persian and now Jazz. we are going to pick him a friend in a couple weeks from the same breeder but different parents. they are beautiful parents. there is a little girl and a little boy. three weeks old this thurs. so we will go out to look when they are 4 weeks and we have first choice!! we are leaning towards the male but well see.i just wasnt sure if Jazz being the king of the house would get along better with a male or female. we are so excited to get him a little friend i think he really needs it.my hubby, daughter and i play constantly with him he never tires,lol

I'd always been someone who swore that female cats were the best pets - based on a bad experience with a male cat years ago. I've now got 3 female and one male and I must admit I've changed my opinion completely - Samson is a lovely, gentle, laid back guy and now I wouldn't hestitate to have another male cat in the future.

Hopefully a playmate for Jazz will allow your persian to get some peace - she can watch the madness from afar To be honest I'm not sure it matters too much whether you go for a male or a female, it's probably more important to look for the right personality as he/she will need to fit into an established hierarchy.

he really tries to keep his paws to himself but he really wants to play,lol i really only have to say stay back and he will. unless iam not looking then he sneeks up and jumps on her poor girl. she kinda growls and just sits there cuz she knows iam comming to save her. i tell him to be a good boy and he leaves her alone for a while,lol. they really are working it out and Baby does love him.she has come to life with him around and actually plays with the toys and she loves to watch him as long as he stays back!! right now they are looking at the birdies through the screen door togeather!!

as for your new kitten, firstly congratulations! it really depends on the nature of baby & jazz as to who will fit in better with them. you know their nature & your breeder will have an idea of how the kitten will be. at 4 weeks their little personalities are just starting to develop.

your best bet would be to meet them & get an idea of what they are each like, that will help you make up your mind. you will find you are drawn to one or the other for some reason & that will be the right choice for you

having a second will give jazz somebody to exert his energy with & give baby a bit of peace! hopefully it will work out great for everybody.

i look forward to hearing who you choose, & of course seeing the piccies once you suss out how to upload them

that's lovely, i think you'll just know as soon as you see them, you'll fall for one more than the other.
