you will have to use the bicarb paste a few times on the soiled area to thoroughly remove it.
you could also try a solution of biological washing powder & water, the enzymes in the powder help to lift the chemicals in the urine.
the white vinegar is really used after the area is thoroughly cleaned, to deter the animals from returning to that spot....lemon oil also deters them.

best bet is to work out why the soiling is happening so you can get on top of the situation.
do you have enough litter trays? has your cat been checked by the vet in case it has a urinary infection? have there been any changes recently to upset him/her?

you could try urine off to eliminate smell etc

BUT why is he/she doing it?
could be a few reasons as already mentioned but this can also be their way of telling you there is a problem health wise!
if it persists i would advise a quick check up , better to be safe etc

I think the problem has now been sorted!!....Thank Goodness!!

The second litter box has definately worked. The smell of lemon oil was getting on my nerves as i began to associate the smell of lemon with cat pee!!
I tried a paste of sodium bicarbonate; left in on the carpet and underlay overnight then washed it off, it still smelt, so i ended up cutting out the soiled area of underlay and throwing it out. I tried an enzyme cleaner from the pet shop- (that also smelt of lemons!!)

I finally got hold of Urine-off from the net and a black u.v light- This must be the only thing that actually works!! The black light found every urine spot in the house, even old marks which must have been there from before we moved in!! The urine-off gets rid of the uric crystals that form and remain, even after washing, this is why the smell remains......and it doesn't smell of lemons!!

I actually found a recipe on internet that worked for my sofa. Soak in half water and half vinegar and let dry. Then sprinkle bread soda and using a cloth or brush work in to fabric with 3% hydrogen peroxide. Let dry and hoover. It worked real well. There was no interest in the area after that.

I'm kind of late in replying, but I've had good luck with Pee Pee Be Gone.

The citrus vanilla one smells reaaaally nice.
