I give a copy of the kitten's pedigree with just the basic information on (no registration numbers etc) when the kitten is collected or delivered. I will not provide the registration paperwork until I have confirmation that the kitten has been neutered.

Unforetunately if people are dishonest to breed from a cat when it's not on the active register and/or make up pedigree details whether they have a copy of the pedigree or not isn't going to matter, they'll just invent it!

it's usually the registration papers that are held back, not the pedigree. a pedigree isn't official unless it's a certified one, whereas the registration certificate is.

If you look on Gumtree or the online free ads, there are a lot of people selling their Bengals as pedigrees. It's just a shame really and thats why I feel all breeders should neuture before letting their kittens go and this is why I got Oscar neutured at 16 weeks in case he ever went missing.

it would be nice if vets agreed with that kim, unfortunately a lot of them (including mine) still won't neuter until 6 months.

A lot of owners actually ask me to neuter their pets before they collect them which is heartening for me as I know that they are very responsible pet owners.

I do also think that some breeders should perhaps be more selective as to where their kittens are homed and vet them more thoroughly. I have spoken to some BYB’s who in my opinion sound pretty unsavoury characters and they have bought their ‘breeding pets’ from well-known breeders which is worrying.
