I brought my Cooter home on Oct. 1st. We had a towel in the carrier with him that we let my other moggies smell to get used to his scent. I waited a week before I let him meet my other moggies. Cooter was very timid as well when I got him home but me and my husband played with him a lot to make him feel comfortable. The meetings with my other moggies went well. There was a lot of hissing and growling but nothing bad happened. Now Cooter and my moggies get a long fine. He likes to play with both of them. My moggies are 5 and 11 yrs old and they did fine with Cooter who is 4 months old now. Hope everything with you turns out as well as it did me. Just be patient and it will work out just fine.

I can't comment on the introduction to existing pets (our rabbits don't really count) but can talk about the introduction to the house.

Our little girl came home and immediatly hid in the bed we bought her. Over the next day or so she then chose either a spot behind the clothes dryer or on top of a box on a shelf with a veiw of the door to "her" room. She too was shy, but would come out to play occasionaly and eat.

By day three, she had figured out how to clime the gate we had put in the doorway, and wanted to be around us all the time. She would avoid intentional contact, but would play well.

By the next day, the barrier was useless, she was talking naps with my oldest daughter, climbing the furniture, bouncing off the walls, and had become one of the family.

It doesn't take long for them to get used to you if they were properly socialized by the breeder (IMHO)

I introduced to 4 yr old bengals to two 4 month old bengals, it went fine, better than we thought, although Zeus howled and hissed at us, he is now ok with us and the kittens, but is really still a scardy cat, he walks through the house pratically on his belly, if you make a sudden move he is up like a shot. I think some cats are just nervous by nature, Daisy is very much like Zeus, nervous. I am sure the intro will make you more anxious if you dont expect them to hit it off on first sight. We gave ours 3 months, but were settled after around 5 weeks.

hi, welcome to the forum

as already said, he should be fine given a little time. just take it slowly...at his pace. he will let you know when he's ready to venture further than the bedroom & when he's ready to meet the other members of the household

the most important thing is to be patient & not to force him when he's not ready. first step is gaining his confidence in you, then he will venture out.
if you just sit in the room with him & read a book or watch tv, his curiosity will get the better of him & he'll come & investigate you.

Thank you so much for the great advice everybody!! I am so excited, he has come out and warmed up unbelievably in the last 24 hours!! He was in my master bedroom, but has made his way downstairs to meet all 3 of my male cats, there has been some hissing and growling, but no bad. The Bengal kitten is not afraid at all! Funny, he wants to play which is great! It seems to be going ok so far! He had been in my room for 4 days and I did keep them all seperated and let them smell each others stuff little by little. With time it should be fine! Thanks again!! I am excited to have found this site, its great fun!!

P.s. Wow! He sure can talk LOUD at night!!!!!
