Bengals being allowed outside on their own

love the kitty in the boat =)

We let our two boys out unsupervised. Gizzy is too shy to go anywhere - the second he hears any noise (people, cars, etc) he runs straight back into our yard - so he never really gets any further than *just* over our back fence because there's always noises! He spends most of his time in our yard where he feels safe. Pipe is too fat to jump the fence and refuses to use claws on anything but me - as such he slides down everything he tries to climb except me (and I frequently have the claw marks to prove it).

Linden does not go out unsupervised (and since her recent bee adventure she doesn't go out at all - at least until there are fewer bees around to chase!). She's too fast and agile, not at all shy or scared, and we just won't risk losing her.

Yes I know, he was angry because cats had been toileting in his garden but the thing is, I only let Casper and Minnie out for a few hours at a time at the weekend (when I was home to supervise as we had no catflap) and I know it wasn't them. He just wrongly assumed they were to blame for it and was always muttering things about shooting/poisoning/setting the dog on them.

They are not nice people and its a real shame to be stuck with them next door to be honest! :roll:

Sadly I can remember my (otherwise sweet) old Grandad who had the attitude that all cats were vermin, so I know how anti-cats some people are.

My little girl will stay safely inside untill we can get her a harness and leash.

Around here the biggest threat is from other wild animals. Too many foxes, coyotes, red-tail hawks, and owls around for her to be safely out on her own.

I am sure theft would be a big problem too as bengals are really rare around our area (or so says my vet at least...).

When I took Mystie for a check up about her eye problem the vet told me to be careful when letting her out because people have been stealing pedigree dogs and pedigree cats from peoples gardens, I told her I don't intend to so please be careful because these cats have such distinctive markings that they will be easy prey :shock:
