Our two babies were both micro-chipped at the breeders before we picked them up even though they are indoor cats.
This week our electrics went on the fritz so we had an electrician round. I worked from home on Monday while he was here but he had to come back today and I needed to be in the office.
Despite being told they were indoor cats and couldn't go outside we arrived home to find Mojito missing. After frantically searching the house we realised she must be outside and so went out into the garden to call her. Our neighbor came out (who often looks after them if we are away) and said that he saw the electrician come out into the back garden and leave the back door open. He then saw Mojito sitting outside the back door later in the afternoon but when he came out of his back door she ran off.
To cut a long story short(ish!) we found her behind the shed and when she heard us calling she started meowing loudly as if to say 'where have you been i've been trying to get inside for hours!'
She is now back home safe and sound and curled up on my lap (having escaped from Neo who has been incessantly washing her since she came back in
So - even if you have an indoor cat it is always worth getting them micro-chipped.
I think it's illegal to post what I'm going to do to the electrician when I get hold of him
Sigh of relief that my baby is home safe and sound.
