just read your post...poor little baby. I don't know if it will help but if you read a post called maiseys babies in breeding section (page 6 )I think it explains how to wind little ones it maybe of some help, some of it is very sad but you may pick up on some info. Hope it will help

hi there, just caught up with this one.
believe me i know how stressful this is but the fact she hasn't lost weight overnight is a very good sign, & that she's suckling when the bigger ones aren't pushing her off.
the "maisy's babies" thread was mine, so i certainly understand!
do make sure you wind them after bottle/syringe feeds & also make sure mum is toileting them, if not you may need to help out as constipation & wind can be very serious for such little ones. you may want to get some nutridrops too, you can usually order them very quickly from online vet shops. they give a nutrient boost which helps give them a little more energy.
it does sound like she's getting there though, fingers crossed for you & the babies.

She may possibly have a soft palate or tiny pin holes, although it appears she is nursing, she might not be getting anything through.

Try using a 1ml syringe with a long teat if you're having problems with bottle feeding, a single graduation with a 1ml produces just a drop of milk and the long teat would get way beyond the palate, this method would essentially allow the palate to heal if there was a problem.

Bear in mind that the pin holes would be techically invisable to the human eye, so you wouldn't know for sure....It's more of a 'just in case' scenario.

Tube feeding is another option, but no need if she has a strong reflex....tubing a 3 day old kitten is not for the faint hearted anyways!

If you have glucose solution then give her a few drops on the tongue just before feeding for the next couple of days, it's vital that you keep on top of her hydration levels too, hopefully she's not dehydrated yet, but in any case your vet can supply you with 'electrolyte solution' should you need it.


We recently had a similar problem with a newborn boy, he was feeding as normal but not gaining, after 24 hours he started to fade so we stepped in and took over, his palate seemed fine but I had read somewhere about the tiny pin holes.....so I fed him hourly using the above method, after ten days he was back in with mum full time.



The longer teat is worth a shot if she's still not gaining enough...saved my weeman without a doubt!
