Last Memorial Day, Quasar lost a patch of fur on his flank about the diameter of a quarter.
I put him into his portable kennel while hubs and I were leveling our travel trailer. When I took him out again, there was a loose tuft of fur and a bald spot. The only answer I could come up with for the hair tuft was that it had snagged in his leash swivel hook while he was in the kennel.
The area has never been raw or sore looking but Quasar keeps licking it when he grooms himself and does not allow the hair to grow back completely.
Whenever I think it's growing back in, he goes back at it and it's worse than it was to begin with.
Yesterday, I bought some Bitter Yuck and blotted some on the bald-ish patch. He licked at it and I hoped that the taste would deter him.
This morning, I blotted some more Bitter Yuck on the patch.
Tonight, the patch is even bigger and part of his skin is completely bald.
Is there anything else anyone has tried to stop their cat from licking a hot-spot?
Any help would be appreciated.
