So....

its time ladies and gents for another thrilling tale of "goblin the wonder kitty"

now it is worth mentioning that i blame this incident entirely on watching X-men 3 with the cats over the weekend. goblin must have got the idea from somewhere

so last night i went to find goblin for his pre-bed cuddle and grooming and...
he wasnt in the bedroom, the lounge, the study, the dining room, the kitchen, the bathroom,

when i went into the bathroom (on the 2nd floor) my eyes kinda travelled to the billowing curtain and i looked at the tiny 6" x 12" ventilation window that was open. and i heard the tinyest little "meow"

i SPRINTED downstairs, and out into the back garden fearing the worst and saw goblin sitting in the middle of the security light, tail wrapped around himself looking as calm as you please!

by the looks of things, he must have managed to get up to where the window was, jumped the 5ft into the outstretched branches of the plum tree and scampered down to the ground.

so i called the vetphone people and checked him over carefully. he seems fine but im taking him to the vet this evening just to be certain.

so the results of this evening adventure are...
1) i got the best aerobic excersize i have had in years
2) i have 3 grey hairs that werent there yesterday
3) i need to come up with a better solution for my windows than just "only opening the little ventilation windows at the top"

so, quite a few people have mentioned making covers for their windows,
how do you go about making and (more importantly) attaching them to UPVC windows?

i can envision a kind of wood framed chicken wire structure being sturdy enough... its how to attach it that has me stumped

we built a 'run' in the garden for our rebels..
they love to sunbathe, watch the birds & get fresh air too but then again so do I

I have been wary of flyscreen material, but see they do a stronger fibre glass one.

goblin is back from vets, who after 15mins of laughing so hard that he actually had to sit down pronounced him absolutely fine. i was lucky and got the nice vet (there are two and the surgery and one is a foul bengal-hater) who has an extremely adventurous ocicat and said that he used strip magnets to secure light framed screens inside the actual lip of the window.

glad he was ok! little monkey
