I’d like to get my baby a collar with a bell on it, so I know where he is. Has anyone had problems with the bell falling off, and causing a choking problem?

I tried a collar with a bell on it years ago.
It never stayed on Quasar long enough for the bell to fall off, however.
The walking jackets/harness have never bothered him but the collar drove him nuts!! He scratched at his neck like mad just trying to remove it.

My experience with collars are -- they don't stay on. I always use the breakaway collars and they are off within 24 hours. If the cat is indoors, I don't see a real reason for them to wear one except in case they escape. Better to have your kitty microchipped. As for the bell -- I have tried to get the bells off! And they are very difficult to remove in some cases. Many collars have them and it's to let a potential "meal" know a cat is approaching. If you want to locate your cat -- a bell is not going to help if your cat is not moving. You might want to check out the bluetooth trackers that are very inexpensive. They attach to a collar and you find your cat with your phone as long as your cat is within a certain range -- 100 to 200 feet.

My ornery Bengal tolerates wearing a pheromone infused Calming Collar pretty well. Actually he is currently wearing 3 collars: the very first one that has his tag attached ( the non-dangling kind that has the collar threaded through it), a collar that is more than a month old and the most recent collar. I will remove the 2 extra collars next time I put on a new collar.

I think dangling bells and tags would annoy him. Three non-dangly collars seem to be OK.

Bells only work when they are moving. Years ago, we had cats that had access to an outside balcony through a cat door. The bell on his collar never saved any birds. He would sit motionless at the bottom of the railing watching birds on the railing. He would jump to catch the bird in less than half an instant. Once the bell made a noise it was too late.
