Cat-Proofing Power Cords

I'm working on Bengal-kitten-proofing my house. One area that I haven't figured out is the best way to chew-proof the power cords. Any tips?

Amazon sells several options if you just search "critter cords" or "pet safe cord protectors." Or just google "cord covers pet chewing." I know you will find something that will work.

My bengals were terrible about biting cords, so I had to solve that in a hurry. I did two things:

1. prevented them from biting through cords by using ridged cord covers.

These aren't the exact ones I used, but similar:

2. I sprayed cables/cords with bitter yuck. That way they had a real unpleasant experience if they put their mouth on a cable or cord.

Thankfully that did it. After a few months of that, they lost their desire to mess with cables, and now I've been able to remove the cable covers and not worry about it.

As always, Brian to the rescue! Not all kittens like chewing cords, but it is always nice to be prepared.

I hope that they don't chew the cords! I've never actually had a kitten that chewed cords badly - but I know people who have. I just figured that since I was going all out trying to kitten-proof my house, I'd add that into the mix. :wink:

Probably over-preparing, lol.

I really, really appreciate that advice! I do have apple cords, so will make protecting them my first cord priority!

Yep and Apple headphones too. My nephew found out the hard way - didn't pack away his headphones and couldn't figure out the next day why he could only hear music out of one side! Bryan had merrily chewed away on his earbuds overnight.
Crappy Aunty Trace had no sympathy.......

I have a slew of Apple cords throughout my house and neither cat is even interested in them. However, mine are far from being kittens.
