About 6 weeks ago, I brought home a 1 1/2 year old male who is a retired stud. He was neutered shortly before I brought him home. He has adapted well to our home (he's our first bengal and first cat) and we absolutely loves him! I worry that he may be a bit lonely since he has lived his whole life with two different breeders surrounded by other bengals. I contacted the breeder who sold him to me and she said that he got along with everyone except the other male stud. She recommended a female bengal as a companion and suggested the sooner if we add another bengal to our home the sooner the better. However, she doesn't have anything available for several months and it would be a young kitten.
The male is very laid back and I worry that a confident female would easily dominate him, which is why I'm reluctant to put a deposit on a female kitten before her personality is known. I've been in touch with another breeder who has an almost 5 month old female who she says is also laid back and gets along with all other cats. She sounds like a perfect match but I do have some concerns/questions...
Could there be an issue bringing home a 5 month old unspayed female with a recently neutered male/retired stud in the home?
Could she go into heat soon?
When would be the best time to have her spayed? Soon after bringing her home or give her time to adapt first? (Her breeder says wait until 6-8 months but I'd rather have it done sooner.)
Any advice is appreciated! Thanks
