After about a month of keeping my 2 bengals on the pine pellets the breeder uses, I plan to adjust them to a litter robot. You can only use clumping litter for this, so I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on the best way to transition them over. The pine pellets are HUGE, they are what she uses to fuel her pellet stove. So the change in texture will be pretty substantial to them.

Also, if anyone has had any issues with any brands please post!! I plan to use tidy cats with either the blue or red top.

I put a box with pine pellets in my kitten's safe room when I fist got them, and they didn't use the box. They were used to regular clay litter. Once I gave them that, they immediately used the box! They probably thought what the heck are those big pine pellets for?! I would think transitioning from pine pellets to clumping litter would be pretty easy as cats seem to prefer digging in clay.

I do have some clumping pine litter I'll try out too, I just wasn't sure if it would work in the litter robot. It will be a good middle ground for them at least though, since I already have the bag!!! Same pine scent, but clay like texture and granules.

Try setting up a litter box with the cat litter. Since you have multiple cats, you need at least two, preferably three boxes. Put the litter boxes near each other and see what happens. If they head over to the litter, you are in good to go.

A lot (all?) will depend on the cat.
In my experience we did as advised and put the old litter trays right next to the robot but being inquisitive they simply started using the robot right from the get go.
Got rid of the litter trays the same day into the garage and never looked back. I was lucky maybe but there are loads of tips/advice in the manual.
BTW - get smallish sized clumping litter. I use Worlds best and it lasts for ages. I did try Super Benek which appears to be robot compatible and was around half the price but found most of the pellets didn't pass through the grate so wasted some money on that before going back to worlds best which is much finer and works perfectly with the robot.
Also, a small tip - never fill over the level indicated, you will only waste litter on the cycle.
Have fun with your robot, expensive but best thing I ever bought for my furry friends.
