Hi :)
I've been looking to get a Bengal kitten (I have 2 other kittens in the house and a dog so I figured a kitten would find it easier along with everyone else).
I absolutely love the cats with the gorgeous bright orange/red coats and so I was wondering if its possible to tell when they're kittens if they will develop this lovely shade?

hi elynnya :D

welcome to the forum.

their coat colours take a long while to develop, changing constantly over their first few months of growth. if you look at the colouring along a kitten's spine & around the back of the ears, you can usually get a good indication of how the colour will set when it's older. we call the orange/red colour "rufous".

if you take a look at madeline's kittens in this thread, you can see the colouring along the spines & around the ears is stronger, this should spread to become rufous all over like the mum.

Thanks :)

Just saw Bengals in person for the first time today. Can't believe how amazingly beautiful they are. Seeing pictures on the internet just doesn't do them justice when compared with seeing them in person. Absolutely stunning!

Yup just been visiting the breeders in my state. After visiting them all I've put a deposit down at the first breeder I met (such beautiful cats there really amazing eyes didn't see anywhere else). Babies are due in in about seven days :) and I'm looking into a retiree as a "mum" figure for my little kittens :)
