Recently my 18 year old domestic cat died. I'd like to adopt a Bengal kitten to become my male, 9 year old Bengal's buddy.
Should I get a male or female Bengal kitten? Are there major differences between the two genders? My Bengal male is a loving, intelligent, and playful kitty.

I personally would get a female to go with your existing male as she might not try and gain dominance. However, it all depends on how your existing bengal takes to a new cat and the personality of the new cat. I'm sure someone who has undergone this will be on soon to give you some advice.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I have a very loving, sweet male bengal -- except when it comes to other cats. He's so territorial. He's even growls at the cute little female calico who lives across the street. I would probably get a female kitty -- I don't know if I'd get a kitten for a 9-year old male. That might present a problem. Any chance you could adopt an adult female bengal? I know kittens eventually grow up, but some people on here have had some problems bringing a new little kitten into the mix.

My experience is that it is much easier to introduce a kitten to an adult cat, rather than another adult. Be prepared that your 9 year old might never really like the new addition, but given time he will probably at least tolerate the newcomer - just depends on the cat.
