Hi everyone, I'll be collecting my 1st Bengal next week.. he is 3 yrs old and a rescue... I'm just wondering whether to let him roam throughout the house at night, or place him in a specific room when it comes to bedtime..... I'd like to know the views of you guys and gals....

I'm sure it's different for each bengal owner. Mine is 7 years old and sleeps through the night on our bed. He has full run of the house, but doesn't usually wake up until the sun comes out -- and then he's ready to roll and thinks everyone else should be as well.

It's probably good for the first couple of weeks to keep him in a safe room with food and a litter box and toys. Let him get used to you and new sights and sounds. Then you can introduce him to other rooms in the house. Cats will usually sleep where they choose to sleep. Some owners make their bengals sleep in a different room at night. It's really up to you. Some cats can be nocturnal -- up all night! Every cat is different. Congratulations on the upcoming arrival.

I recommend a safe room to start with.
You will have a better idea of how kitten proof your house is when he has arrived.

Nothing wrong with leaving kitty alone overnight in a cosy safe room with all things needed (food, water, scratcher, tray, a toy like a jingle ball maybe).
House exploration requires supervision and a clear learned route back to the saferoom for him to run back if he gets overwhelmed.

IMO free house roam for a new little one is too much and will just make him feel lost and alone and maybe scared,
Establish a cosy safe (he feels secure) room for him to mark it all up with his scent and ''own''.
let it be his bedroom until you know he is going to be safe unsupervised (in other rooms)

your boy may be a cable biter ,,, or a bookcase climber (anything) and needs to be kept safe till you know him better.

We choose to let our two go anywhere they want to at night. Most nights, they both sleep on our bed. Sometimes one, generally the female, will choose to spend the night on her bed in the living room. I like they can go where they want, although, typically they don't move at all until we get up. We make sure they get a good 1-2 hours very energetic play before bedtime, then their last small meal, and that way they seem to sleep through the night. Once your new cat is out of the safe room, because he has become confident around the house, it is good to have a routine and try to stick to it, IMHO.
