My two will play in the water when it's turned on, but once it fills to where they can feel it up and over their paws, playtime is over. How can I get them to "jump in the shower" with me? Is the behavior something they grow into, or do some just enjoy water more than others?
don't get me wrong, they'll splash until half the sink is on the floor or the mirror.. but as far as playing in the tub.. you can forget it. ;)

Are you sure you want them to jump in with you??? Its cute the 1st few times, but after that it just becomes a pain. Olly will wait in the tub for hours until one of us comes in and takes a shower. At 1st he would just sit on the end and hit the water with his paw. Now he jumps in and runs around the bath tub like a mad cat (I have fell over him many times.) If you kick him out of the bathroom or if he hears the shower on he gets mad and sticks his paws under the door, crys, and will try to open it (If the door is not locked he can open it) No one can take a bath any more as Olly thinks who ever is taking the bath is a floating thing he can sit and lay on...

If you really want them to jump in with you just let them come in the bathroom when you are taking a shower. It will take sometime but they will jump in sooner or later...

I've heard it's personality. My five month old Bengal, Wedey doesn't play in the water at all. I actually think he is scared of water. He started seeming like he was getting interested in water when I would go to the bathroom and he would run to the edge of the toilet when it was flushing. Last night, I turned on the water to wash my hands in the sink and put him on the counter. He got up and ran off real quick, like my DSH does. So, I think it all has to do with the individual cat.

Linden started with standing in the bath tub while the tap was running and playing with the water coming out of the tap until the bath level got a little high for her. Gradually that level was higher and higher until she'd still be standing in the bath tub playing with water when the level was up to her neck!!

This went on every time the bath was run until hubby and I eloped to a tropical island last year and left my parents living in our house to look after the cats. Mum likes to have her bath REALLY hot, and Linden hasn't been near the water since =(

It was really funny and cute while it lasted.

She still loves to get into the shower when we get out and splash around with the water in the base.
