Hi guys im new, iv got a stunning year old queen. I paid £600 for her and traveled 500 miles to collect her. When I arrived the breeder said she couldn't let her go for less than £800 with papers, so we agreed I sould pay £300 for the paper at a later date. She is now saying I have to pay£500 for the papers as she is show breed.i know she is legit her queen and stud were champions I have no doubt that my queen is full bengal and I have had lots of vets say so too. Is there any way of retrieving the papers any other way as she is ready 2 breed. What should I do

Sorry I can't help, maybe you should consult another vet and have him/her give you advice... Otherwise, post a picture of your bengal, so we can see it's face & body. I can recognise if the cat really is a bengal or not. My sister has a hybrid bengal and I know how to recognise it...

Have you bought her as a pet or to breed?

It actually costs less than £50 to register cats with TICA or GCCF so not really sure what the breeder is on about. I think they are just trying to get more money out of you. Do you know who the parents are registered with and what their pedigree names are? You could PM my the details of the breeder and I'll see if I know anything about them. They are being very dishonest and untrustworthy in my opinion....

Gee, a breeder who continuously raises the price of the cat. Sounds like she's holding the papers for ransom. Wouldn't say it is a reputable breeder or they would stand by their word. All you can do is negotiate. If the cat is registered with TICA then there is a transfer form that has to be filled out. It's on the back of the registration. It sound as if you're wanting to breed the cat. You can always go to bengalpedigrees.com and put in the registered name of the cat and get the registration number. I don't know how you can get around a breeder who refuses to hand over the papers unless you pay them a huge amount of money, but unless the registering agency has any transfer information, the breeder is still the registered owner of the cat.
