Blimey what a thread.

Dress it up how you like ....it IS irresponsible to introduce a kitten or cat to any dog that is either known to kill and attack cats or kittens - I mean come on what part of that is difficult to understand?

I have dogs and cats, 2 German Shepherds and 6 Bengals, I have also raised litters of kittens around the dogs (never left unsupervised) and would NEVER have contemplated that ever if my dogs were known to kill small animals or had ever ragged a cat or anything for that matter (they do not have a high prey drive - won't even chase a ball half the time )

My advice to the original poster is simply not to bother to introduce them at all. IF you are not going to have your dog in a months time then risking the undue stress on your kitten and also the danger you may be putting your kitten in is simple not worth it.

Hey guys just giving an update. Loki has now moved with me to a different city, while my dog Andy has stayed behind with my parents.
However before we left Loki was playing and interacting with my dog safely.

We started by borrowing a big cage from a friend, and put the dog in that while we let Loki roam around the house for a little while. After a few days Andy was very calm about sitting in the cage and totally ignored Loki. We then let Loki roam around while holding Andy on a leash, and for an extra precaution we put a muzzle on him. We had to give Andy lots of treats at this point, and keep sessions short because he didn't like the muzzle very much.
After another week we let them interact without the muzzle, but still keeping Andy on a leash. Loki loves jumping on Andy and biting him so we were worried Andy would retaliate. However Andy was very gentle with Loki and would just move away if Loki started to bite him too hard. Lastly we let Andy off the leash, and allowed the two to play together, but supervised at all times.

So Loki is still alive, and slightly sad he's lost his favourite play buddy. Thanks for those who gave me good support.
