My 14mo bengal claws up the carpets despite I have 3 cat trees ... scratching posts N scratching pads n this S shaped thing for cats all kids of stuff. When he duz it I slap my hands 2gther n say NO when he duz it n put him at the scratching posts. My 18mo on Tortico duznt claw up anything but the scratching posts so I read about Soft Paws. I dont think I like the idea of gluing thez things on my kittens paws!! I do trim his nail every week while he sleeps.

He still tryz 2 chew up my pillows n comforter. I think cuz they r soo soft. I hsve given him his own pillow n stuffed animals but he jus lays on the pillow on my bed n jumps on t he animals he duznt try 2 chew them up.

Will he out grow this chewing faze? ?

Thankfully, my Bengal uses the scratching posts exclusively and has never chewed up anything but his cat toys.

My girl chews EVERYTHING at times she is worse than a teething puppy but it has to be certain textures or she has nothing to do with it! Like her "cat" toys she doesn't bother, but my leather strap on my handbag she loves!!! Or some of my kids toys! I have never really trained her not to do it! As long as it is nothing that will hurt her like wires and cables,or something she can swallow I leave her alone! Needless to say my bag is put in my closet

I have never used soft paws before but I have never heard anything bad about them before! You have to be mindful of the price (our vet charges a fortune for them but he glues them on) and some say they can lead to the same behaviors associated with declawing! It's a good option, but like with everything you have to weigh out the pros and cons! It might sound a little odd, but Jasper my boy, had a go at our leather sofa a few times! Instead of punishing him I rubbed organic cat nip(fresh from the garden) onto his cat tree and put him in front of it! Now he knows to use HIS furniture, not ours! He will also go and scratch and let out a loud meow to let me know its nip time

I use Soft Paws on my Bengal and it is worth it. She seems fine having them on as well.

O.. r they easy 2 put on ??

My kitty would not sit still for me to put anything on him. I have to grab him and hold him down to put a pill in his mouth -- even if it's in a pill pocket. He's got the sharpest claws I've ever seen. I used to trim my previous cat's claws, but she was very calm and loved to be held, so it didn't seem to bother her.

while asleep yeah, good plan.
But you should also stand ready to catch kitty when he next tries to climb his tree/s... because he wont understand why his claws are not gripping anything.
Maybe soft paws cats get used to it and stop trying to use claws naturally for climbing and scratching (which is a form of marking for them) but I wouldn't know

Its also very easy to clip the tips of claws (few at a time and take your time) while kitty sleeps.

Does he calm down with the scratching after he's clipped?
if so just do it more often?

I've never used soft paws myself as both my boys were pretty quick at picking up the rules of what they can and cannot scratch.

Since your kitten is only 14 weeks old, i would give him a little more time to learn what he can scratch rather than using soft paws at this point. Continue what you are doing with removing him from the area he is scratching and placing him on his scratching post. I also found if i then scratched it myself in front of mine, they would start scratching the post. At that point i would give them a treat to reinforce using the post so that could be worth a try. For a while, every time he uses the post give him lots of praise / treats so that the behaviour is positively reinforced :)

Could save you a lot of money if you persevere a little more with training at his age!
