Early neutering??

What is the general opinion on early neutering? I am coming across breeders who would neuter before I took the kitten home - 12-13 weeks and in the very limited experience I have had that sounds really early. Are there any benefits to early neutering other than making sure people don't start their own backyard breeders? I have read that some early neutered males don't grow to the full size they would if they remained intact longer - what are you guys' experience of this? I suppose one other benefit to me as an owner is that it would already be done and I wouldn't have the stress of our new kitten being 'put under' I hate taking my animals to the vet when they have to have an op.

I neuter my kittens at 10weeks, all are bigger than the un-neutered parents, recovery quicker and less drugs used. No reason at all to wait, no benefits at all either leaving it!

Quasar was neutered at 12 weeks. We picked him up at 13 weeks. It was AWESOME! I did not need to put him through the stress of neutering once he moved in with us.

I, too, had not had the experience of early neutering - had never heard of it. The last cat I had was over 10 years ago. They did not do it then.

My Merlin was neutered at 12 weeks and we have had no problems at all - Im sure this helped my other 2 Boy Benglies to accept him aswell
