I'm leaving for for 10 days to Europe
I don't want Cheeto to think I'm gone forever
will he forget me and be heart broken

I go to work each day so i guess hes some what used to being alone

I'm having someone stay in my house and look out for him so he can be more comfortable in his own home

how long does it take to forget me?
Is there anything else i can do to make him comfortable and think i'm vanished?

will he bond with the person taking care of him and prefer them over me?

He wont forget you in 10 days. When I got my cats, my boyfriend and I lived together. We now live in different parts of the country due to work. The cats live with me and so they only see my boyfriend every two or three weeks. The cats are wary of strangers but not at all of him, so they clearly remember him. You will be fine :)

We usually take our pets everywhere with us but, in June, we went to Canada for 7 days. They stayed in our home with neighbourhood children watching them.

The first night back, Quasar was stand-offish and growled when I picked him up. The next morning he was snuggled against my legs in bed. All was forgiven.

The dog, on the other hand, didn't even know we were gone, I think.

Your scent should still be around the house. I don't think animals forget that easily. Your baby should be just fine and welcome you back home. I'd wrap myself up in a towel or blanket and leave it around the house so Cheeto has the opportunity to smell it or lay on it. Ten days is not a long time. You'll be back before you know it.

He will be fine. I have done 10 days in Europe and my cats were initially mad when I got home but were all over me soon enough. I would maybe put a sweatshirt or blanket of yours somewhere so he can be with your smell when he wants to. I put a sweater in a cat bed before I left and I could tell they all slept on it by the fur on it when I came back. :)

I usually have a two week holiday every year and my dad stays with the cats for me. They are very pleased to see me when I return. I get followed very closely for a few days and permanently have a cat on my lap every time I sit down.

Contrast to one of my childhood cats who would ignore us for 24 hours. Then bite the first person who dared to touch him.... After that he was fine
