I use clumping litter for Diablo. However, even though I feed him Oven Baked Dry Food, when he uses the litter box, it does not smell pretty, and the scent lingers for quite some time (even though I remove it immediately.) I sprinkle a deodorizer called Scent Off, but it doesn't help much. Is it better to buy scented litter? Do all bengals leave smelly deposits? Feedback would be appreciated!

Their diet has a HUGE effect on their smell I didn't notice this as much until I recently changed my male back to raw! Now I can no longer smell when he is in the litter box and I can when my female is in there! She will not eat raw and at the moment will only eat dry! With that being said I do use a scented litter but I can honestly say that it doesn't make that much difference! When they stink they stink! My kids were actually ran out of laundry room, which is also their playroom and where the litter boxes are, because BB(my girl) had a poo and it was TERRIBLE! I am in the process of switching her food tho! So long story short, you could try scented but honestly I cant say that it makes a HUGE difference! If you want a kitty without smelly poop,feed raw!

If its REALLY bad smelling you might want to have a word with the vet to make sure there is no parasite or bacterial infection making it that way. Normally a cats poop shouldn't smell a huge deal.

Oven baked is grain free cat food.

When you say raw food, do you mean we should just chop up chicken and feed it to him? Please tell me exactly what I have to do.

All I've ever used is the unscented litter. I figure the kitty wouldn't want to smell something perfume. The litter absorbs the odor and the litterbox smells -- well, it doesn't smell. When I was putting the waste in a ziplock bag, I'd smell it and it had no odor. The litter does its job. Now I use a Litter Genie and love it!

I just bought a bag of Odour Buster kitty litter. Anyone ever try it? It claims that you don't have to clean it out for a week and there is no smell. (I would continue to do it on a daily basis, in spite of what they say.)

I will also agree with the raw feeding leading to almost odour free poo!!

My kitten has always been fed raw and (other than a 2 day tummy bug, which STANK) his poo has never smelled bad!

My 3 year old girl, who when we got her (at the same time as the kitten) had only ever eaten Royal Canin biscuit, wet pouches and tuna had the most terrible smelling poo ..................... she is now raw fed too, and no smell!!
