Hello everyone!

I'm a new member here, and I have a de-sexed 6 month Bengal daughter called Missy ^-^

Missy is an adorable, playful and energetic kitten, but since I got her (when she was 4 month old), her poops is very soft and sometimes I was shocked by her shake like poop. :( Her vet believes it's caused by virus, and give me two kind of antibiotics. But the course was not worked. Then I heard that kitten's digestive is not perfect, so I add "daily Digest" (by Pet Naturals) to her breakfast, now her poops are well formed but at the end of each poop, the "shake" still appears... So I am afraid something is wrong with her... Have any of you got this problem with your little kittens?

In addition, I've one more question:
She is 3.2kg now, I'm wondering is it normal at this age of Bengals? or is she too fat? Because she eats a lot... I give Hill's or Fancy Feast wet food to her every morning and evening ( about 50-60g/meal).

If the vet thinks she has a virus, has he done any screening for this, or just given anti-biotics? It is possible that she may need testing for Giardia and TF (Tritrichomonas Foetus). Both will cause soft poops, and the 'Daily Digest' may now be masking the symptoms. Make sure the TF test is done as well if you have the Giardia test, otherwise you may find you end up treating for the wrong thing....

The 'shake' at the end, I am assuming is the soft, liquid bit of poo that may actually be the excess secretive fluids that make it possible (and easier) for a cat (indeed any mammal!) to evacuate its bowels.

Re her age / weight and food - She is a baby and needs lots of nutrition to grow, so I would feed her what she wants! She will have growth spurts and go from fat to thin overnight! You should not cut her food back until after a year, to give her the best start, and Bengals are normally heavy cats - My boy is 6 kg at the moment, but looks slim! Personally, I would continue the two wet meals, and add a good dry food for free-feed (high meat and low cereal - if any - content). She looks quite slim, and like she will be a big girl!

You need a TF PCR or QPCR test - when you take the sample do so over 48hours of poop and make sure no litter in it - there is lots of information in the health section of the forum.

I forget to mention that the vet added metrogyl and Tribrissen first, then they did a test of her poop. The result was negative, so they did not find any bacteria... :S And after this I stopped her antibiotics course...

I am still adding "Daily digest" for her breakfast and sometimes give her meshed pumpkin+cooked chicken, sometimes canned wet food:)

Did they test for TF?

Antibiotics will mask TF and cause false negatives. You need to wait 1-2 weeks after finishing an wormer or antibiotic BEFORE taking samples for TF. Also, it is shed intermittently so sample. Bit of poo from several episodes over 2-3 days. Test is only accurate if its done this way and by PCR. or QPCR testing.

If the tests were carried out upside these conditions, chances are T's a false result.
