Hi
The dreaded time has arrived and I have no option but to put my Suki into a cattery for a few days and would welcome any recommendations from members who have boarded their bengal in the Hampshire area (Portsmouth, Southampton, Fareham). I asked some time ago but unfortunately didn't have any specific answers. Can anyone help please? I have searched online and found about 5 or 6 in my area, but I would really welcome other owners' experiences.

I would offer to help but Merlin doesn't tolerate any other cats near his Mum!

Can you find a cat sitter who would visit him at home ?
We had somebody come in twice a day for 1 hours approx.
It worked ok, but i was not happy anyway. next time i will be asking my mum to stay in our house whilst we are away

Thanks for the reply. The 5 or 6 catteries I have noted (amongst the dozens that I looked at online) range from Bishopstoke, Wickham, Titchfield, Hayling Island and through to Bosham. From their websites I can put them in order of preference, I just don't have time to visit them all so was looking for any recommendations. I would prefer her to stay at home but unfortunately our families are many miles away and there is no one else available. I do not want to use a pet sitter. I ought to have visited some catteries before in preparation for this day which was bound to come. I'm sure Suki would be OK for a few days, just me fretting! I will give Corsican a ring. Thanks.

I had a friend who put their Bengals in the Wickham one (just up from the Thai restaurant on A32), but that was @20 years ago.... They were EGs and seemed to be quite happy there. Was Joy any help?

My uncle has recently used Chestnut Cattery by Mud Island on the Wickham to Southwick Road, and says they are very (posh) good - Indoor cattery with indoor run. He is using Green Barn at Newtown next week, though, as they are slightly cheaper and have outdoor facilities.

You should really go and visit, as taking info from a website or from older recommendations could be very misleading.
Things can change big time, a rundown looking place could have excellent in cat care and actually now be upgraded, or a beautiful and "recommended" place could now be rundown and about to close with poor cat care.
Best to go and speak to those who will currently look after your cat,

Thanks to everyone for their replies. We have now found what we think is the perfect place, Snuggle Inn cattery near Southampton, we were impressed with their facilities and helpful staff, they have also boarded Bengals before. Now I just need to psyche myself up and hope she enjoys her little holiday and doesn't forget me!
