Hi all, looking for some advice if anyone has experienced a similar issue as below.

Being a woman working in the world of IT I have a pretty techy living room, which in cat terms means room of many exciting play cables!

Whilst preparing for him to move in I did tidy up the cables as best I can, they are all in one corner of the room behind the TV (unfortunately I couldn't afford a TV stand with cable trunking as they were quite ridiculous in price).So currently all the cables are tied up as best as possible but this is still very interesting for kitty.

Whilst this isn't a huge issue whilst I'm in the room, as soon as he takes interest I can distract him with other toys etc. I am more concerned about when I leave him home alone.

Does anyone have any tips on how I can try and discourage him permanently?

My Dad mentioned putting pepper around the cables as this apparently deters cat, I wouldn't be adverse to doing it but it seems to sound a little 'old-wives-tale'?

We had a lot of trouble with this at first with Max. It graduated from playing to licking so we tried better cable management, lime juice, and finally a little Dawn dish detergent on the cables. They don't particularly like the smell of it and definitely not the taste.

Thank you for the tip! I have tried limes and an apple smelling detergent spray and it has worked wonders :)
