Hellow friends,

I have a Wild caught Leopard cat about 1 and 1/2 months old. I have been feeding her milk through feeding bottle. I feel that it's now time for her to eat by herself. I tried giving her meat and many other things but she won't eat, instead she would go after the feeding bottle and chew off the nipples.
I am really worried as I won't be able to always feed her through feeding bottle. Can somebody please tell me how to initiate the process so the she will eat by herself without the need of feeding bottle....PLEASE HELP..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What exactly do you mean a wild caught leopard cat? I hope this is a joke!

Jamir - I have experience raising early generations (F2 onwards) but not Leopard Cat. However I will do my best to help you and can get you some advice from a breeder who has raised Asian Leopard Cats and Servals.

Can you give me a little more information please? What age do you think your leopard cat is? What sort of formula are you currently feeding? You say you have tried meat but what type? Is this raw or commercial?

I have hand-reared Earlier Generation cats and some do take longer in making the switch from being bottle fed to eating meat. My longest took 10 weeks before she would transition over and she was third generation away from the Asian Leopard Cat.

Please do take Elaine's advice and keep feeding the milk. We found ground raw meat the only way to transition our difficult cases over to eating independently and that did take time and many hours of persuasion.

If you can give me more information then I can get you some advice. Please let me know how you are getting on.
