So, my slight dilemma is that I have had my 4 month old Bengal, Denium for a week and a half. As I mentioned in a previous post, she was bred with a breeder who had several litters of kittens in a short(ish) time, and Denium was from the 1st litter, and the last one of her litter to be re-homed.
When we picked her up, she was amongst 15 - 20 kittens waiting for their forever home, and she was king (or queen) of the castle. So, cats/kittens were her "people". She was socialised with the breeder and his partner, and kids etc but mostly with other felines.

Now, we have her at home. The 1st few days we barely saw her, and she hid most of the time, or only came out to play when she thought no one was around. She is much more sociable now, she has a 6' high cat tree with various platforms and hidey holes which she loves. If she is on the tree we can easily walk up to it and pet her - I can get her harness on and take her for short walks outside etc. But if she is not on her tree, she is impossible to get close to UNLESS my outside cat (Elvis), happens to be either at the door, or on the odd occasion comes inside. Deni can not get enough of him - she just seems to want another feline to play with (and Elvis could care less about Deni).

so, my question is - should I persist with her as she is with the hope that she will accept us as her "people" or should I get another Bengal as company for her. If I were to get another Bengal, and that Bengal was more sociable to people, would Deni conform?

I look forward to some opinions.

How long did you have your bengal kitten now?
How much time you spend with her daily, are you home full time or work long hours?
have you tried to communicate with her on her level ?
meaning sit down on the floor and get as low as possible so your eyes are on the same level as hers?

Do not think you can recreate the same environment for your kitten, by getting another.

Your kitten was "at home" there at the breeders, she is no longer "at home" with cats that she knows well, and that is why she is scared and unsure.
Another kitten will make little difference as to how she feels at the moment, she is out of her depth and uncertain as her whole world has been turned upside down.
You need to make her comfortable with you, and that will need work on your part, a week and a half is no time whatsoever and I am a bit concerned re your use of the word "persist". Your expectations of how a new kitten behaves are perhaps a bit too high.
It sounds like she is really good for the short time you have had her. Having a cat is about building a relationship over years, not "having it all" in a week and a half.
Once she feels comfortable with you, then you will be able to get close to her, it is a two way street. Cats in general do not like people bending over the top of them. Try to avoid this when you want to get close to her.

Why would Elvis care less about her? She has just shown up. Cats also need time to develop relationships with one another.

It was recommended to me to keep my kitten in a bedroom for a while so he had to get used to me for the 1st few days. He has since bonded well with me. If it's nap time he has to touch me, lol. Anyway it seemed to work. He rules the house now at 14 weeks and is quite interested in new people. Hope that helps
