My boys ate insured with Petplan and we want to change. We are currently paying around £38 for both which after speaking to a couple of animal people, this is a ridiculous amount of money.

Can anyone suggest any others. I want to bring payments down to around £20 a month.

For both cats that is not actually too bad!

Make sure whichever company you go with has lifetime cover.

I can't fault pet plan tho, they've paid out really quick and so far Lilly has had almost £800 of tests

I shopped around and for £20 a month for two cats, you hardly get any cover and i don't think it's lifetime either.

I'm on the top petplan plan and I know my furbabies are covered and that ill get the cheque through my door in a week.

We are with petplan and paying £ 28 for both cats.
We have a pre-existing condition though , so will have to stick with them for now . Hope they wont increase our payments any time soon

I've just insured my dogs with Animal Friends, and they've given me a great quote for the cats as well which I'll be taking when our bengal baby comes home and Lexie's existing policy expires. It's lifetime cover (specifically went looking for lifetime) and they offer a 10% discount on each multiple policy, so our second dog and both cats will qualify for 10% off.

I can't remember off the top of my head what the quote is, but I know it was less than £12 for both cats, including £7,000 vet bills. I'm currently paying £14 a month to NFU just for Lexie on pretty much the same policy, so I spent a while checking and re-checking that I wasn't seeing things.

Hi, just to warn you we was insured with Animal Friends also we had the top policys on all of our cats, one of them became ill with gastrentoritis and the fees came to £540 after drips medication and xray, but Animal Friends wouldnt pay out and a lot of other people i no have had the same problem with Animal Friends, so we joined Pet Plan, one cat had an injury costing £400 at the vets and Pet Plan paid out within 10 days no questions asked, yes there a little more expensive than other companies but as the saying goes you get what you pay for.

I have not heard good things about Animal Friends either.

I moved mine to Agria Vet which is much cheaper than Petplan. Cover for life. Made 2 claims and 1 settled immediately, the other they are waiting for vets to send some results but that claim was in excess of £600 and they require more detail from vets if it is over £500.

Also get £25 voucher towards vaccinations.
