I just read about Safari on Melissa's page. So sorry to hear that :( Hope he gets to feeling better soon!

Thank you everyone!!! Safari did have surgery and come to find out he had a string wrapped around his stomach!!! So 4500$ my baby is ok!!! I get to pick him up Saturday!! Thanks so much for all the support also DO noT let your kitties eat string! Ofcorse I never seen him eat it but he must have some how. I'm glad it's all over :). I miss my little man! Thank again :)

OH MY! Poor Safari! I am glad the vet found out what was going on and you get your baby back happy and healthy! I know that vet bill is A LOOOTT of money but I am sure in your head and heart you know it is money well spent! Please keep us updated and let us know how the little monster is doing! I cant believe he ate a string that scares me because I found some in Jasper's litter box

I know I couldn't believe it either!! I'm glad it's all over now.

I am so glad to hear they found the culprit and he is on the road to recovery! Wow on the vet bill, but we know they are worth it! I keep telling my kids not to leave things around that they can eat, I will be telling about this as a lesson to learn.

What a relief that a problem has been identified and sorted.... I know the operation is pretty worrisome but at least you have had an answer and Safari is on the road to recovery. I bet you cannot wait until Saturday?!

So pleased for you. We will need some pictures when he is home!

Any one reading this who has a similar issue, please do as was done here and seek veterinary advice. This could have ended badly if Safari's Mom was not so vigilant and repeatedly asked vets for advice.

So glad Safari is OK, I was getting worried.
When our dog was vomiting and not well, I also had to push the vet into doing an xray, it showed up something in his gut which turned out to be two bits of a plastic toy, he was operated on and the bits removed. I think if we hadn't pushed, our dog would have been a lot sicker, if not dead.

aw i am so pleased that they found something and Safari can now be on the road to recovery.

Thank you everyone and I have shared the news to Facebook to also help other cat mommies out. Safari is a year old and you wouldn't think he would be consuming string but always bengal proof your houses. Also X-rays do NOT show string that's another reason it took so long to find the problem. I'm so glad it's over & I'm ready for baby to recover and be back to crazy string free kitty!!

Poor Safari so glad it's all sorted and you can have him home. Bet you're feeling a lot less stressed. They can be such a worry, worse than kids sometimes!

Thanks!! I don't know about worse than kids I don't have any but I was surely stressed to the max and worrying about my little man. He's sleeping now he's wore out. I have so many meds I have to give him. The recovery time is 10-14 days and he has to wear one of those lamp shades on his head the whole time :(
