so friday safari threw up 2x....i watched him saturday to see if he would recover....he never touched his food saturday and only drank a little water and had rapid breathing....then sunday i took him to the ermergency vet hospital...they took x-rays did blood work and said everything looks fine besides he is very constapated...so they gave him something to help him poop...told me he should make a bowel movement 12-24 hours and its been 30 hours and no poop....he has not eaten all day and only drank a little water today.....im now on my way to bring him back to ER being my cat hasnt eaten in 4 days or did a bowl movment! im very mad and agravated and scared for safari...he has been sleeping non stop...
just so everyone knows i have not changed up any food....but instead of walking safari like i usually do everyday i tie his leash to back porch and he just hangs out and trys to attack the bees and sniffs the grass...i have been doing this for 3 weeks no problem but i think he might of ate a lizard or a frog or something that didnt sit right with his stomach..... oooh would also like to note that safari has only threw up 2x in the whole year i have had him...and i know both the causes...soo for him to throw up 2x in one day was shocking...any help would be greatly appreaciate...

I just left again and they have him another enema and some fluids and I'm hoping he will poop then eat some food because if he doesn't eat come tomorrow that will be 5 days with out food. 800$ vet bill later iam pretty mad and aggravated that my poor cat is still sick so hopefully he will be better by tomorrow.

Any chance he could have eaten some of the toxic plants outside ?
I was amazed how many plants that could be dangerous to the cat.

Also, did you note what exactly he was throwing up ? I usually find all the clues in the substance they throw up.

Sounds like something he's eaten to me, like Laurel said lots of plants are toxic to cats.

Thanks guys. I think he so might of ate something poisonous. But he never really eats grass just bugs. Thanks for the prayers he will need it. If he doesn't get better by today or show signs of improvement I'm taking him to my local vet. That will be 3 vet visits and a whole lot of money and somebody better fix my poor kitty!

So I just dropped him off at my local vet and they will be reviewing the X-rays and trying to help him. They said they will call me when there done. So I hope they can help him it's his 3rd vet visit.

Thanks bb!!! I have been going nuts about to lose my mind! Tomorrow makes his 4th trip to vets! I will be so happy when its all over with. My poor safari has been thru hell :(. They had to sedate him 3 days on a row! He's not a happy camper.

Have they let you know what is going to happen now? I don't know anything about pancreatitis in cats! It sounds scary! Poor Safari!

Yeah it is scary. They said if he doesn't make a bowel movement soon then they have to go in for surgery incase he swallowed a string or see what's causes the hold up. :(

I have dealt with pancreatitis personally and with one of my cats. I cantellyou it was not much fun as a patient so really felt or Eviewhen she was poorly.

The way the anatomy s in cats, the bile duct is very short and connects, in a roundabout way, the pancreas to the gut. I was told that any infection in the gut canesily track back through the bile duct to the pancreas. That is why Evie got ill with pancreatitis. She had TF. Not suggesting Safai has TF but if he has eaten something that has given him an infection, this could explain things a bit more.

Fingers crossed it s this simple and some antibiotics will cure him.

Fingers crossed for you, I know how stressful this is. I have had to leave two cats recently at the ves for 2-4 days for IV fluids and IV antibiotics. Both are now fine. Max had liver issues and was in for 4 days, Toby had cystitis and was in for 2 days.
