Starting to feel a bit bad about not playing with Django enough.. I have bought so many toys, most which he doesn't really like and he doesn't play solo which is understandable. He doesnt seem to like the fishing rod/feather thing I use, he just looks at it like "yea I can see you waving that stupid feather" so I dont think he'll like "dabird" I even bought a remote control mouse and he does the same "yea I know that's not a real mouse, not interested."

I take him for walks which he loves but at the moment i'm waiting for a new jacket to arrive, the harness I have just isn't safe so I try to keep it to a minimum until the new jacket arrives.

I feel terrible I didnt get 2 cats but it was 1 or nothing. Just seems like he wants REAL things like to be outside and climb trees but I only have crappy bush/trees he tries (and fails) to climb.

He has a scratch pole he doesn't seem to use that much but thinking of getting a 2 metre tall one he might like better?

I work all day so I feel really bad that he's bored and understimulated. He doesnt seem that food motivated for he didn't seem too interested in the clicker training I tried.. but maybe I need to persist with that.

How can I find new fun ways to play with him? When I get the jacket I hope to advance to a point I can take him to the reserve accross the road to climb trees but I live in suburbia so I'm a bit relunctant to do that (dogs/people/kids/cars).

Any advice or help would be awesome

First things first.. Where did you find that tree. I'd love it for my bengals! Ralph is a male, 15 weeks old and recently I got him a buddy.. Stella who is 8 weeks old. After about 4 days they're in love. I recommend a second if that's a possibility. Something real for yours to chase and play with is always better in my opinion. Another idea is building something for them to climb on yourself. I bought floating shelves and carpet tiles and made my own. More modern look which the wife likes over the cat trees. Good luck!

We got a laser pointer for our two, Cinder goes mental for it, Neko likes it too but Cinder much more. Neko loves the feather toys more than he does but the leaping action we get with the feather toys is amazing from both of them.

Hi, have you got one of those balls in a circle track things? Mine love that. With Jaxon I've found he really likes things best when he finds them himself, and I don't mean things considered toys. He can be a real pain when I'm trying to cook so I am always tring to find ways to keep him busy.

Receipts held together with one of those small metal clip things. I had it on my desk in a little holder thingy, thought it was not attracting any attention, he found it and dragged it all over proudly as if he'd just caught a gazelle. It was the current months receipts so I took it away and stuffed it into a more (I thought) compartment, in 20 min he had it again. So now I keep my old receipts just slightly hidden and he spends hours dragging them around.

Do you have an area rug on hard floor? He also spends hours playing with an emery board type nailfile and when it goes under the edge of the area rug he has even more fun trying to get it out.

Something small that will float in a few inches of water in the sink.

I found a toy that has a teaser at the end but its on an elastic string and then a plastic rod with a suction cup at the end. Thats on my patio door and he loves that, the bonus being you don't need to be there waving it around.

The wobbly treat dispenser, he plays with that a lot even when its empty.

Maybe he does play with things while you're out, even though mine are very active they do spend a lot of time at the windows now that spring has come and the birds are back.

I've also found that even if he doesn't show an interest at first, leave the toys lying around and sooner or later he'll try them out.

Love that cat tree, I went to get another one on Sunday but it wouldn't fit in the car so have to wait 3 weeks till my friend gets her truck back.

Don't go crazy spending money on toys. Mine love pieces of paper rolled into balls. I sit at the top of the stairs and throw them down and they'll fetch them for hours! They Also love cardboard boxes! And in your case since you have one. Try chasing and them going and hiding. Mine love that too.

You can spend a fortune, or provide and old handbag, an empty box with holes in it and a roll of toilet paper.....

Mine just found their love of straws, and every time we go to Costco, a new box fort is added to the house. We do have the standard crinkle balls, crinkle tube, feather wands, and dabird. all of which they love. they seem to enjoy the stuff that makes noise more, so our feather toy has crinkly bits in the middle, we get da bird going nice and fast to provide the WOOSH! noise. The only toy they like that doesn't make noise is the laser pointer.

Thanks for all your ideas
I bought a laser pointer and waiting for it to arrive.

I have balls of paper, toilet rolls pretty much everything bought and free! He likes to look out the window. Hopefully he is ok and i'm just stressing.

Do they calm down a bit as they get older or are they like kittens forever?!

I do wish he would want more affection

Caution when using a laser pointer as there is nothing for them to actually catch and "kill". Make sure when using the laser pointer you always lead them to a treat every once and a while!
