So everything is all set and we finally let the kittens downstairs for the first time today. Now the concern I have is downstairs, behind the couch, is a half wall, that overlooks our entrance way. We are in an apartment so can't really block this off, but its a good 12 foot drop on to tile. Toshi was briefly on the half wall (until we caught her and moved her off it). How likely is it that they will try to jump off it, or while they are kittens knock each other off? My husband and I are very concerned about this, and trying to figure out ways to keep them off it, otherwise I don't know if we will be able to let them have full run of the house for the foreseeable future, until we are more comfortable that they wouldn't fall off.

Has anyone experienced something like this? Any suggestions or opinions? Am I just being paranoid? I don't want our babies to get hurt.

Would you, if you were me, wait a bit for them to get a bit steadier in their actions before letting them have unsupervised access to that area? They have full reign of upstairs right now.

Or should I just chill about it and see how they do on it? Toshi was sitting on it, so hopefully she saw its too high to try to jump from...

ok, I will try that and see how it goes. Hoping after enough times getting them off it they will leave it alone.

We live in a two storey home and I have had both Neko and Cinder look over the lower railings (between the two railings looking down onto the stairs below) they were looking like they were going to jump down, completely freaked me out!! I have not seen them try and jump down as yet, so I am grateful for that. I hope they never have that idea... I hope your two are just initially curious like ours were but don't attempt it. Sorry I can't be of any help really, we just told them no and moved them away from it and put them at the top of the staircase to walk/bolt down.
