hi can anyone recommend a camera please i havent the slightest clue about cameras and purchased a lumix fz48, well its either me not knowing how to use it as it has lots of different settings that i dont no what they mean or its a rubbish camera as i dont think it takes very good pics but as i say it could just be me id like a decent camera that takes real good pics thanks in advance

The only types of camera's I've ever found to really give the types of photos I want are DSLR cameras - I need a new one atm I have a sony A200 but its a good 4yrs old now and I dropped it a few times - I bought a point and shoot canon but its never compared to my Sony.

I've been using a Canon SX110 I got it for the 10x optical for birds and other wildlife. Then I got the cat and its been great. We go hiking and I can put it in my pocket and it wasn't as expensive as a DSLR. I've been getting really great action shots and in low light too. Auto is fantastic but now that I understand it its never on auto anymore. Its older so I'm sure there is a better newer one out. I've reached its limitations and want a DSLR but it was perfect to learn on and if your not into changing settings perfect and it still has settings if your feeling adventurous.

agreed, I have the powershot sx230 HS, and I love it for its different modes, but now that I know how to use the shutter on the TV setting, I only use that
