Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if you guys could help me with something. My boyfriend and I adopted a kitten today from a breeder of Bengals. She had a lot of purebred Bengals (from what we tell from our research, though we are by no means experts), but the one we adopted she said she rescued from a breeder who bred her Bengals in order to get a certain coat pattern -- the kitten we adopted was considered "mismarked" and the lady who bred her didn't want her for this reason. She was planning on bringing the kitten to a shelter.

Now, like I said, my boyfriend and I are by no means experts on Bengals. We've done a lot of research on them because we think they are fascinating. However, we're not sure if this kitten is Bengal or not. She came with paperwork and all that jazz, but for all we know, that could mean nothing. We didn't pay an unreasonable price for her by any means (in fact, she was even cheaper than a shelter cat) and whether or not she really is Bengal doesn't bother us because we find her beautiful (both inside and out). She's a very sweet kitten and very much apart of our family already.

But we were wondering if you could let us know if you see any telltale symbols that show whether she is Bengal, part, or completely otherwise.

We tried to take good pictures that clearly display her markings.

Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forum! You and your boyfriend have a very pretty kitten, but I have to say no she doesn't look like a bengal. She looks like a Tortoiseshell to me. Still a very pretty cat, I must say.

Looks very much like a tortie, which probably means she's at most half-bengal if bengal at all.

the tortoiseshell isn't a variety that is found in bengals, & her hair seems a little too long. also, her eye shape is too almond & her nose quite thin, usually the width of a bengal nose is wider. i would say that she was part-bengal, if at all.

i'm glad you've found youselves a pretty girl to love & cherish & happy that you love her no matter what...seems like she certainly landed on her paws finding you :D

Thank you for all your responses! We appreciate it. We do love her regardless of her breed (we chose her because she captivated us with her personality). We just wanted to know.

Thanks!

Awwwww.....even though she isn't a Bengal, she is adorable!! I have a tortie, and she is the sweetest cat in the world!! Congrats on your new little one :D

By the way, what did the paperwork the breeder supplied you with say she is? If is says she is pure Bengal, than the breeder is doing a big no no  . Just curious  .

Definitely a very sweet, pretty little tortoiseshell girl - she's beautiful! She may have part Bengal blood, but the Tortie gene is, without doubt, the dominant one.
She is lucky to have two wonderful owners! :D

She may be part Bengal but certainly not a full blood, the father must be a red tom ;).

But I don't even think she has some of the looks of the Bengal breed... (but with the tortoiseshell pattern it's hard to say really ;)).
