This has probably been covered before....so apologies :-)

Knowing how my boys like to be up as high as possible and also that I haven't found a scratching post tall enough for them to fully stretch out I was thinking of getting them a really tall cat tree - one that is maybe fixed to the ceiling for stability. Has anyone bought anything like this in the UK and if so have you any tips for brands/shops to try or avoid? We did have a cat condo when we first got the boys but they kind-of destroyed it  so I'm looking for something robust but not bank-breaking!

Cheers

Teresa

(PS anyone going to nag Hobbit for photos of her new arrivals?!)

Kalven make cat sratchers from solid timber. Not cheap, but they last forever. (The shop bought ones I had only lasted 5 minutes :( ) I've had mine for over 10 years, and still going strong  www.kalven.co.uk

Or some lucky and creative people make their own :D

Hi Teresa,

I bought the most brilliant scratch post from EBay, and my kittens knew it was for them the minute we took it out of box (whilst it was still in bits). We are all very happy with it; it gets compliments from whoever comes round and although big (tall), it is not intrusive.
Mau and Benga really do use it all the time (if not for playing, for sleeping), and so far I think it will stand their weight without it having to be bolted down securely.
I really would recommend this to all of you!
I paid unbelievably low price (£36.50 + £15 P&P), but I waited for the auction ending on Saturday night and it was with me on Tuesday. You can also buy it with BIN option.
I may post pictures later when I have more time!
The seller id: albanypets135, the post I bought is: ultimate, cat, kitten, scratcher, scratch, tree, post 296blue
He has lot more choice, but this one was smallest one in width for its height.
Have a look, it is brilliant!!!!

I got this one -

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ULTIMATE-cat-scratching-tree-post-activity-centre-2207G_W0QQitemZ220173876994QQihZ012QQcategoryZ20740QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Its also from albanypets135 - I got it for £26 + £15 postage.

It is fantastic - I have 5 cats swinging off it and its solid - no movement.

I highly recomend this seller.

I bought this ceiling cat tree because we were very limited on floor space (it's only 16" square at the base and is the same width all the way up)

Both cats use it all the time - especially William, he likes to climb right to the top and sleep. It's very sturdy and hardly takes up any space in our living room.
