a kitten needs to keep a lampshade on after being neutered. Quentin had his plums removed today and I have fed him boiled chicken breast as its bland (Barrington was fed lambs heart and raw egg).

How long should I leave the buster collar on?

It depends as to whether he is showing an interest in his rear end - but Im sure after around 3 days the skin has knitted together quite well. Some people don't use them at all and some people do I think its a judge on the individual cat type thing.

I didn't use one is like nothing happened after the drugs wore off.

I have never used one for my boy cats....

I might just keep it on for another hour. Mainly for my own entertainment. Watching him is quite mean but funny at the same time

I didn't have any problems as all with Widget so he didn't need a cone. In fact, the vets didn't even provide one. (I had my own soft edged one anyway if I did need it)

Pixel, my little girl... well, she was a nightmare. Wouldn't leave the stitches alone so had to wear the cone for 10 days until the stitches were removed. I went through hell and back with her!

I had to wait a while longer before I had Widget done as he had been poorly prior to that and they wanted to make sure he was fit and healthy before doing his op. However, I had no troubles at all with him. Not even sure he noticed! Haha

At work we don't even put e-collars on the boys, unless they actually show an interest at messing with their rear end (which is almost never). As others said I think it should be safe to take it off and just keep an eye on him. If he messes with the area at all just put it back on for a while, though I doubt he will.

I didn't have cones for my two boys, Evo had bigger incisions as one of them hadn't dropped as much (poor boy) but as long as i kept an eye on them they were fine. Both very quiet and sleepy for the first 3 hours and then mad as hatters afterwards!

Millie had to wear her collar for the whole 10 days! horrible experience for the both of us... I would take it off of her when she was napping or eating. If I took it off and she just licked it, I left it off, but if she bit or pulled at the stitches, it went back on, and she wore all the time it when I wasn't home. Monty on the other hand didn't even notice that he had anything done to him (bless his simple mind ) and didn't need a collar at all... totally depends on the cat and how they react.
